I am asking Premier Rob Lantz to temporarily remove the government taxes on fuel in Prince Edward Island.

The provincial gas tax is 12.5 cents per litre (cpl), the federal gas tax is 10 cpl, and the GST is 15 per cent, totalling over 38 cpl. And the GST is actually charged on top of the other taxes!

With the price of gas sitting at about $2 a litre and home heating oil at $1.84 a litre, many Islanders are struggling more than ever. Our MLAs receive mileage to pay for........
