CHEERS AND JEERS: Cheers to the baseball Islanders for their championship win
Cheers to the Charlottetown Islanders for their fourth New Brunswick Senior Baseball League championship in a row, and their fifth in six years. The Islanders defeated the Chatham Ironmen on the latter’s home field on Sunday to claim the best-of-seven series in five games. The Islanders also won the Baseball Canada nationals in 2025. Islanders general manager and pitcher Jake Beck says the winning formula includes support from families, employers and fans, and camaraderie among the players. “Whenever they’re not in the lineup, they’re just as loud and motivating the rest of the team. It’s a special group and certainly nobody takes it for granted either.”
