CHEERS AND JEERS: Cheers to Summerside teens petitioning in name of their deceased friend

Cheers to the four teens who are trying to get a basketball court in Summerside renamed after their friend who died in an ATV crash last year. Recently, Emerson Dean, Cali Bridges, Colton Bridges and Kingston Gallant presented a petition to Summerside council seeking to have the court named after Ben DesRoche. Brad DesRoche, Ben’s father, started the petition before handing over the efforts to his son’s friends. Basketball was an important part of Ben’s life and the court in question is one he used often. Renaming it in his honour would be a fitting tribute, and the civic engagement shown by his friends is heartening to witness.
