CHEERS AND JEERS: Cheers to everyone who took part in Charlottetown’s Pride parade

Cheers to the organizers and everyone who took part in Charlottetown’s annual Pride parade. Hundreds of people filled the streets in downtown Charlottetown last weekend for the parade that continues to be a success. The parade is a celebration of diversity in P.E.I. and it’s heartening to see how successful it remains at a time when division and hate are a constant presence in the world. Many Islanders came together as a community to celebrate with their friends, neighbours and strangers, pushing back against that divisiveness. Signs on display during the parade, like those saying “love is love,” carried a strong message that will hopefully continue to be felt for more than just one day a year.
