That is so true. We know about many of the benefits of trees such as combatting climate change and storm water flow, providing shade, beauty, privacy, noise barrier, and wildlife habitat, to name a few.
We know that planting trees is an unselfish act for the future benefit of society. You do have the pleasure of seeing the tree planted, and then watching it grow over the years, assuming good health of both. For many tree species, such as oak, elm, white pine, hemlock, sugar maple, and yellow birch, these long-lived species should survive multiple generations of families.
Whenever I am involved with tree-planting events, which occurs many times a year, it is an enjoyable and uplifting experience. Generally, the people doing the plantings are excited and optimistic for the future of the tree and surroundings.
Because planting trees – such as potted trees and shrubs, can be very expensive, it is doubly important to ensure they are planted properly and given the best chance to get established and thrive in the future.
