Recently, I visited The Main Ingredient at 326 Charlotte St., a place I frequented as a child. Stepping through the doors immediately brought back a sense of nostalgia.

Customers are welcomed by shelves and bins overflowing with candies, chocolates, and specialty foods, along with fridges filled with cheese and milk, and freezers stocked with ice cream and frozen treats.

What products are available at The Main Ingredient?

As a child, one of my favourite errands was visiting the local bulk food stores with my parents. I would race down the aisles, captivated by rows of bins filled with candies, chocolates, crackers, nuts, noodles, and countless other treats waiting to be discovered.

I knew that if I behaved, I might be rewarded with something special. Without fail, I would make my way to the mix and match candy section, carefully choosing from jars of cola bottles, gummy bears, sour worms, and assorted candies that were fresh, sweet, and tangy. They........
