High praise for former coach Vince Malette
Frequently while we observe hockey games we hear analysts talk about players’ character, resiliency and determination.
We hear commentators and reporters praise athletes for defying the odds, and overcoming adversity.
While it is fair to say that athletes have to persevere through tumultuous times within their sport, others have to battle adversity on a daily basis in their everyday life.
A person that has exemplified strength and endurance over the last several years is one of my former assistant coaches in 2002-03 with the Ottawa 67’s, and a former head coach of the Peterborough Petes — Vince Malette.
The Orleans native spent nine seasons as an assistant coach for the 67’s between 1994 and 2006, under the tutelage of head coach and Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Brian Kilrea.
