U.S. pols’ attention should stay at home

Manhattan: Voicer Warren Davis’ pretended response to Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is symptomatic of a disturbing trend among too many Americans in jumping on the “hate Israel” bandwagon. His blind adoption of Rep. Ro Khanna’s publicity stunt in deliberately failing to inform Israeli authorities about his visit to contested territories as required, leading to the Israeli military protectively escorting him from foolish “settlers” who wrongfully detained him, was a shrewd move that resonates with the “blame Israel” crowd. Who invited a California politician to roam the so-called West Bank? Certainly not his West Coast constituents.

Davis’ contention that Mayor Mamdani should be thanked for calling for demonstrations against Netanyahu when he arrives next month to participate in the annual UN General Assembly meeting is an even bigger chutzpah. What’s a mayor’s job? Certainly not to call for street demonstrations against the prime minister of a state he relentlessly demonizes. Why doesn’t he do the job for which he was elected, such as dealing with the burgeoning homeless crises and more efficiently picking up the mountains of garbage left on our sidewalks?

Why is the mayor of the largest Jewish community outside of Israel fomenting the kind of violence against Jews that may be even more violent and destructive than previous antisemitic riots perpetrated since the Hamas and Islamic Jihad massacres inside Israel on Oct. 7 three years ago?
