Dangerous dog offences rise by a THIRD amid XL Bully ban
More than 1,000 incidents have been reported to police since 2022, while the number of dogs being seized and destroyed has increased.
A tightening of legislation including the banning of XL bullies is behind some of the increase but there has also been a rise in dog attacks.
Data obtained by legal firm Accident Claims Advice shows a year-on-year increase in the number of offences where a person in charge has allowed a dog to be dangerously out-of-control in a public place and has caused injury, rising by 31 per cent since 2022.
