Benjamin Katabana stabbed Uchenna Okirie, 33, to death in the corridor of Somerleyton House, in Norwich's Golden Triangle, after luring him out of his flat through a series of goading WhatsApp messages.

The killing was captured on CCTV in the accommodation block, with the footage showing Katabana stabbing his victim once.

He then went on to repeatedly attack Mr Okirie - a former postgraduate student at the UEA's School of International Development, who finished his studies in 2022 - and kick him in the head.

It was a violent loss of control his defence had said was due to his traumatic upbringing in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where both his parents and a sister died.

Katabana went on trial at Norwich Crown Court having denied murder but jurors took less than six hours to find the 28-year-old guilty following the trial.

The defendant, of Somerleyton Street, Norwich, appeared at court for sentencing on Friday (July 31).

But the hearing was adjourned for a week until Friday (August 7) following........
