The Norwich South MP has retracted his earlier offer to give up his parliamentary seat to the Greater Manchester mayor as part of a bid to oust Sir Keir Starmer.

Speaking during BBC Politics Live on Wednesday, Mr Lewis suggested he would stand down to pave the way for Andy Burnham's return to the Commons so he could challenge the prime minister's leadership.
