Man charged after bakes and cash stolen from cake shed

It happened at around midday on April 16 in West Road, Costessey, where cakes and cash were stolen from the business.

Shortly afterwards, a further burglary was reported at a property in Oval Road during which a handbag containing bank cards, cash and a mobile phone was taken.

Two fraudulent transactions using the stolen cards were also reported the same day.

The thefts followed a jewellery raid at a home in Christchurch Road, Norwich, between 3.30pm on April 2 and 2pm on April 3.

A man in his 40s was arrested on Sunday and taken to Aylsham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Paul Curruthers, 44, of Northfields, Norwich, was charged with two counts of burglary with theft, two counts of fraud by false representation, and one count of theft from a shop.

He appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Monday and was remanded in custody ahead of his next court appearance on May 18.
