Here are five places to enjoy a getaway with your dog in Norfolk.

Thornham is a seaside spot where four-legged friends are welcome to join in on the fun.

The Lifeboat Inn and the Orange Tree are both dog-friendly pubs with rooms, where dogs are welcome in bar areas and can expect water bowls, treats and at the Lifeboat their very own dog menu.

For food options, there is Eric’s Pizza and Eric’s Fish and Chips at Drove Orchards, which both welcome dogs in their outdoor seating, making it easy to grab something to eat after a beach or marsh walk.

For a lighter lunch, the White Horse Bakery is a great option for those looking to pop by for a coffee and a sweet treat before exploring the village with their dog.

Thornham is brilliant for dog walks, with a mix of beach, marsh and accessible coastal path on the doorstep.

From the village, you can follow the track out to Thornham beach, a quiet, dog-friendly stretch of sand with no formal restrictions, as long as dogs are kept under control near the neighbouring Holme Dunes nature reserve.

The Norfolk Coast Path runs right past Thornham, so you can head west towards Holme-next-the-Sea and Old Hunstanton or east towards Brancaster for longer routes with sea views almost the whole way.

In town, the Feathers on the high street welcomes four-legged companions with dog beds, towels, water bowls and even a dog menu as part of its Sandy Paws stays.

Several other hotels that are just down the road from Holt include the Pheasant Hotel and the Maltings.
