Onlookers witnessed a boy climbing up the huge crane, which looms over the stalled development site at the former Old Ferry Boat inn on King Street, between 2.30pm and 3pm on June 26.

Site developers Estateducation claim the location is currently managed by independent firm Leonard Curtis. The company has been contacted by this newspaper, but has so far declined to comment.

Work on the proposed development of 41 homes began back in January 2021, but ground to a halt.

The crane has loomed over the skyline for up to two years, remaining an eyesore for people living nearby.

Many are now calling for better security at the site, to prevent further dangerous stunts.
