Traders want more support for start-ups to keep Norwich Market alive
The petition comes after seven stalls, currently empty, were seen advertised by the council – five in retail and two in food - and fears more could also vacate in the coming months.
Business owners at the market want Norwich City Council to offer help such as flexible leases, discounted rent for a short time or financial backing as a way to bring, and keep, new traders to the site.

Sam Barcham, co-owner of Birchley's Loose Leaf Tea, said: "I think the idea of starting a new business, especially in the current climate, is very tricky.
"I've always wanted to see small businesses being given more opportunities, so I want to see the council put the money and effort into keeping them here.
"It’d be nice to see small businesses........
