Cycling for four days from Wymondham to Sunderland, the 34-year-old embarked on the ride as a poignant commemoration to mark the five-year anniversary of Alison's death.

The 59-year-old died from clear cell carcinoma in 2020, and had grown up in the area fifteen miles from Newcastle.

Mark recalls finishing the gruelling journey and arriving at his mum's childhood home, where he was greeted by his grandmother, Brenda, and his auntie, Pauline.

He said: "When I got to the house it was very overwhelming.

"I think it was all the emotion of the previous days had been bottling up in me, as well as the physical pain I was in from the ride itself.
