Hannants Convenience Store, part of the national chain of Premier stores, received a one-star food hygiene rating after an inspection by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) in January.

But the Magdalen Street shop, which is one of more than 4,400 Premier stores nationwide, was spotted this week still boasting of its previous four-star rating.

Businesses in England do not have to display their rating at their premises, but are encouraged to do so. However, the FSA say displaying incorrect ratings is potentially illegal.
