Secret behind centuries-old skeletons discovered at city landmark revealed

But a fresh discovery of centuries-old skeletons has raised further questions about the landmark's past.

The story behind the bones, buried within the mound around 600 years ago, has been revealed in a captivating podcast.

Gone Medieval, hosted by historians Dr Eleanor Janega and Matt Lewis, explores myths of the Middle Ages and recently featured the city’s 900-year-old landmark in a new episode.

The pair visited Norwich Castle, a once a hulking Norman fortress, royal palace and later a Victorian jail, and toured the huge keep with archaeologist Dr Tim Pestell.
