Neighbours forced to fork out hundreds of pounds on drains after regular flooding
With thousands more homes earmarked for Rackheath, those in the village on the north eastern edge of the city, fear the problem will only get worse in the coming years.
The situation has become so bad for one mum that she has set aside £1,000 to install more French drains – a system that redirects surface water and groundwater away from an area to prevent flooding - outside her home.
Kayleigh Dawson, who lives near Salhouse Road, said: “As soon as there is a bit of rain, my garden floods.
“I’m going to have to pay to have more French drains put in.

"£1,000 has been put aside for the job.
“My kids can’t play out there.
“I have lived here for two years and I am fed up with it.
"The flooding started in October 2024.
"It's ridiculous.
"The council needs to liaise with developers and ensure flooding is taken care of before construction happens
