'Battle of the 'burbs' erupts as councils fight for control of large neighbourhoods
The leader of South Norfolk Council has hit back at proposals for a new Greater Norwich council which would absorb areas like Cringleford, Costessey and Trowse.
Norfolk's eight councils all face the prospect of being abolished, with new authorities created to replace them, as part of the Labour government's devolution and reorganisation plans.
Norwich City Council has signalled its backing for a new unitary authority for the Norwich urban area, which would take on control of suburbs currently presided over by South Norfolk Council (SNC).
