Anton Earl, 57, of Green Lane in Horsford, near Norwich, died on Monday, February 23.

Norfolk Coroner’s Court heard the painter and decorator – born in the city on December 8, 1968 – was identified by his daughter.

Assistant coroner Robin Weyell confirmed to the court his provisional medical cause of death was given as “hanging” following a post mortem by Dr Laszlo Igali.

He requested statements from the attending police officers, the ambulance service and Mr Earl’s GP within six weeks.

He also invited the family to provide a pen portrait as well as a statement outlining any background or concerns relevant to the investigation.

“Please let me offer my sincerest condolences to the family on their loss,” he added.

A full inquest to determine the official cause of death will take place at the court on June 1 and is expected to last an hour.
