And at a recent UEA Live event, bestselling author Janice Hallett offered an entertaining and often surprising insight into her writing, inspirations and creative process, while also celebrating her long-awaited new novel, the Silent Appeal.

In conversation with the university's Dr Nathan Ashman, Hallett discussed everything from cringe comedy in writing and revisiting her characters to the influence of amateur dramatics.
