Police who found unresponsive woman on the street were 'rabbits in headlights'
Marie Cattermole died in hospital three days after suffering a cardiac arrest while sleeping rough in Prince of Wales Road in September 2022.
An inquest into her death heard that the 32-year-old was found unresponsive in the city on September 22, slumped with blue lips and pale skin in the lap of a friend.
Two police volunteers - special sergeant Darren Gallop and special constable Stuart Florence - were alerted to her condition and approached in order to check on her.
However, the pair's emergency response - which saw them fail to begin CPR - was branded "devoid of rationale" by a police standards investigator who examined how they responded
