The party, led by Great Yarmouth MP Rupert Lowe, has picked Mark Buckton as its candidate for next month's by-election - triggered by the sudden resignation of Sarah Taylor from the police and crime commissioner role.

Mr Buckton served as an officer in the Royal Armoured Corps, which included a tour supporting the police in Northern Ireland.

The father-of-two, who lives in south Norfolk, then moved into employment and skills, spending a decade with the Construction Industry Training Board working across north Norfolk and King's Lynn.
