Law change bid so huge solar farm decisions are made in Norfolk, not London

A glut of proposals for huge solar farms on agricultural land in the county has generated considerable opposition, with local political leaders frustrated that they are powerless to prevent them being granted permission.

That is because their status means the decision on whether they go ahead rests with government ministers, rather than elected councillors.

Many of the biggest farms are being treated as nationally significant infrastructure projects, because they are seen as crucial to the government's net zero drive and the reduction of dependency on fossil fuels.
