Stephen James appeared at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Monday and pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by careless driving in Bury St Edmunds in January.

The court heard that James had been driving down Churchgate Street in the town, an area which James usually avoids "like the plague" due to the complex one-way system.

James, of Harling Road, Norwich, was driving a white BMW, failed to give way at a junction and pulled out into the path of an oncoming Honda.

The collision then caused the Honda to pin a pedestrian, Katherine........
