New Delhi: Former Sri Lankan off-spinner Sachithra Senanayake has been indicted for match-fixing by the Hambantota High Court during the 2020 Lanka Premier League. Senanayake was charged for attempting to lure a fellow player for fixing the game during the LPL tournament.

The Attorney General’s department has said that this has become the first such case of indictment of a national level cricketer for match-fixing under country’s recently introduced anti-corruption law. Earlier, he was arrested and subsequently released on bail in 2023.
