Telangana: Rs 78 Lakh compensation recommended for 18 patients affected by cataract surgery complications

In its order, the commission asked the state government to distribute Rs 4 lakh each to 12 surviving victims as well as Rs 5 lakh each to the family of 6 persons who have lost their lives.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) suggested a compensation of Rs 78 lakh in total for 18 patients who suffered severe vision loss due to cataract surgery at Jaya Hospital in Hanumakonda district. The surgeries were done under the government’s programme ‘Kanti Velugu’ in 2018.
