Maharashtra bans non-dairy paneer, imposes 6 months jail, Rs 1 lakh fine for guilty

In case the consumption of adulterated Paneer results in death, the accused may face life imprisonment and a minimum fine of Rs 10 lakh. The ban order has been issued by Food Safety Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe.

Mumbai: With an aim to stop the sale of adulterated dairy products, the Maharashtra government has banned the manufacture and sale of non-dairy paneer. In case if any violation, the authorities will impose a fine of Rs 1 lakh and six months’ imprisonment on those found guilty.
