Zimbabwe claimed another giant-killing win by defeating co-hosts Sri Lanka by six wickets to remain undefeated in the T20 World Cup 2026 and entered the Super 8s as Group B toppers.
New Delhi: Zimbabwe stunned Sri Lanka to register one of the most famous wins in their history and entered the T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eight stage as the table toppers from Group B. The African nation, which defeated Australia earlier in the tournament, claimed another giant-killing win to remain undefeated in the tournament and send a big warning to its rivals in the Super 8s.
The Sikander Raza-led side clinched the landmark win after completing their second-highest successful chase in T20Is. Chasing a tough target of 179, Zimbabwe rode on Brian Bennett’s unbeaten half-century and a fiery cameo from skipper Raza to cross the line with three balls and six wickets to spare.

Awestruck and inspired by sports since childhood, I was fortunate enough to earn a living by joining the sports media industry in 2007. It's been a rollercoaster of a ride ever since. Just like a Bollywood movie, my professional journey, which began 15 years ago, is filled with both happy and sad moments all along with unexpected twists. A cricket buff and football fanatic, I am one of those who love an underdog story. I have had working stints with some of the most prominent media organisations in the country including Zee Sports, Ten Sports, ESPN, NDTV.
