Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana scripted history on Tuesday by becoming the most expensive Sri Lankan player in the history of the Indian Premier League after being acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping Rs 18 crore at the IPL 2026 auction. Pathirana, who was released by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the auction, entered the bidding hall in Abu Dhabi with a base price of Rs 2 crore.
