Karnataka suspends food licences of Amazon, Instamart, BigBasket over datura listings

Karnataka’s food safety regulator has suspended food licences linked to Amazon, Instamart and BigBasket after finding poisonous datura fruits and seeds listed for human consumption. The department said the products carried food licence details and were stored for online sale despite serious health risks. Sellers were also ordered to remove listings.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Food Safety and Drugs Administration Department has suspended the food licences of Amazon, Instamart and BigBasket after an investigation found poisonous datura fruits and seeds being offered through their online platforms for human consumption.
