Air India Phuket-Delhi flight lost control for 4 seconds after triple hydraulic failure

An Air India Phuket-Delhi flight was left without normal elevator and aileron control for about four seconds after all three hydraulic systems were affected in rapid succession, according to Airbus’ preliminary assessment. The A320 lost around 300 feet before recovering. Investigators are examining the technical failure and other concerns.

New Delhi: An Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi experienced a critical four-second period during which its normal flight-control surfaces were temporarily disrupted, according to Airbus’ preliminary technical assessment.

Flight AI2379, an Airbus A320 carrying 137 passengers and eight crew members, suddenly lost around 300 feet of altitude at about 4:02 am local time on August 4.

The aircraft later stabilised and landed safely in Delhi. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) said 20 passengers and four cabin crew members were injured during the........
