BMW reveal Concept 7 protection; luxury saloon concept gets plug-in hybrid
BMW has unveiled the Concept 7 Protection, an armoured version of its flagship 7 Series sedan. It comes with a 612hp plug-in hybrid powertrain.
New Delhi: BMW has revealed the Concept 7 Protection, a specially developed armoured version of the 7 Series luxury saloon. The concept is aimed at individuals, businesses and organisations seeking additional protection while retaining the comfort, technology and driving experience associated with BMW’s flagship saloon.
Unlike heavily armoured vehicles that are easily identifiable, the Concept 7 Protection has been designed to look almost identical to the regular 7 Series. However, beneath its familiar exterior are several structural modifications intended to protect occupants against firearm attacks.
The concept also introduces a new rear-seat console with additional convenience features and uses the powerful plug-in hybrid powertrain from the BMW M760e xDrive. BMW says the model could eventually help expand its existing range of armoured vehicles, which currently includes the X5 Protection VR6 and 7 Series Protection VR9.
