Elon Musk is back with his population theories. The latest in the population series (ft. Musk-isms) is the graph illustrating projected population changes between 2018 and 2100, titled ‘Large Population Decline Expected in India and China’. The post on X (formerly Twitter) was captioned: “Population collapse is humanity’s greatest threat… Elon Musk.” The latest post and the graph reiterate Musk’s long-standing trepidations on population decline.

The graph shared by Musk highlights stark demographic changes but paints a grim picture. As per the data shared by Musk, the population of the world’s most populous country — India — is expected to shrink by roughly 400 million (40 crore), settling at just under 1.1 billion (110 crore) by 2100.

India’s oriental neighbour China faces a steeper decline and is staring at a grimmer demographic future. Its population of the second-most populous country is projected to halve, dropping by a whopping 731 million (73.1 crore) to 731.9 million (73.19 crore).
