Starlink partners with Maharashtra to bring high-speed satellite internet to remote villages
New Delhi: Elon Musk-owned Starlink has officially joined the Indian market by becoming the first player in a landmark move in digital connectivity in India, signing its first agreement with the Government of Maharashtra. The state will be the first one in India to collaborate with Starlink to provide internet through satellites in remote and poorly served areas. The partnership will fill the gap in last-mile connectivity and make high-speed internet available to rural schools, health centres, and government facilities.
As part of the presence of the Chief Minister, Lauren Dreyer, the Vice President of Starlink, and Virendra Singh, the Secretary of the Department of Information Technology, signed the Letter of Intent (LOI).
