‘The hunt is on’: What’s at stake for Washington and Tehran as US pilot goes missing in Iran

The aircraft -- US F-15E Strike Eagle -- was one of the two planes attacked by Iranian air defence systems on Friday. While one serviceman was rescued, one could not be traced.

New Delhi: An American pilot reportedly missing on Iranian soil after his F-15 fighter jet was shot down has raised the stakes for both Washington and Tehran as the war in the Middle East entered sixth week.

While, the United States is reportedly making efforts to rescue the airman, Iran has launched a search operation to locate the pilot. Tehran has also announced a reward and called on people to turn the pilot in.
