New Delhi: The number of tourists from India who visited the USA was 15 percent less in the month of August 2025. The reduction in the number of Indian tourists was from the same month last year, as per the provisional data from the National Travel & Tourism Office (NTTO). NTTO is the official US government agency. The latest reduction in the tourist numbers marks the third consecutive month (8 percent drop in June and 6 percent in July). The reasons attributed are the tensions between the US and India intensified over tariffs, the purchase of discounted Russian oil by India, and the USA meddling over the bilateral negotiation between India and Pakistan. The decline in the tourist fall could cost American businesses an estimated $340 million in visitor spending this summer.
