PKC-ERCP Project realised after 20 yrs due to Raj, MP & Centre's triple engine govt
Rajasthan’s years-old demand was fulfilled when Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday presented the gift of the PKC-ERCP Project to the people of both Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh in the presence of the Chief Ministers of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh in a programme organised in Jaipur. During this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Today the foundation stone of the PKC-ERCP project has been laid. This project will solve the water challenge in Rajasthan and, in turn, boost investment in Rajasthan. Employment opportunities will increase. Rajasthan’s tourism, farmers, and young friends will benefit a lot from this.”
It was a historic moment as this ended the 20-year-old water dispute between MP and Rajasthan. The plan to connect the Parvati, Kalisindh and Chambal rivers under ERCP will prove to be a boon for both the states.
The Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) envisages the use of monsoon water-flowing waste in the Kalisindh, Parvati, Mej, and Chakan sub-basins. It envisages inter-basin transfer of water within the Chambal basin by diverting it to water-deficient sub-basins of Banas, Gambhiri, and Banganga.
