Using only a sickle and a spear, Babubhai Naranbhai Vaja fought and killed a full-grown leopard during a savage encounter in the Una area of Gir Somnath district in Gujarat on Wednesday evening.

The midnight ambush

The horror began under the cover of darkness while Babubhai was resting in a shed outside his home. Without warning, a leopard emerged from the shadows and pounced on the elderly man. “I was sleeping in the shed when the leopard came. When I shouted to scare it away, it charged at me and grabbed me by the throat,” Babubhai recalled. His desperate screams for help alerted his 27-year-old son, Shardul, who was inside the house.
