The Spaniard sealed a four-set win and another slice of history at just 22 as he produced a thrilling 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory in New York. In his championship run, he dropped just one set.

For Alcaraz, this wasn’t just another trophy to add to his cabinet; rather, it was a statement as he dethroned the World No.1 on the sport’s biggest stage. He snapped Sinner’s 27-match unbeaten streak on hard-court Grand Slams and reclaimed the top spot in the ATP rankings.
