Jharkhand cancels JSSC-CGL and TDPL exams, Devendra Mahto ends hunger strike
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has announced the cancellation of the JSSC-CGL examination and recruitment exams conducted by TDPL. The government has also ordered a probe into recruitment exams since 2014 and plans reforms to strengthen the examination process.
New Delhi: The Jharkhand government on Monday decided to cancel the JSSC Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) examination and all other recruitment exams conducted by private agency TDPL. The decision came after weeks of protests by students over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations.
The announcement followed a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren at the state secretariat. The protest had entered its 24th day while some students had been on hunger strike for 14 days.
Soren said the decision was taken after developments in the ongoing CID and SIT investigations. “There have been some starting reveltations in the ongoing CID and SIT probes. After much of deliberations in the cabinet, it has been decided to cancel the JSSC CGL. All other exams conducted by TDPL will also be cancelled.”
