Ranveer Allahbadia controversy — If vulgarity is comedy, lndia is better off keeping this talent ‘latent’

New Delhi: Risqué is risk! Particularly if you don’t know where to draw the line between humour and ribald. Ranveer Allahbadia, or Beer Biceps, suddenly finds himself on the wrong side of the spectrum facing the ire of fans who found his jokes on ‘India’s Got Latent’ not just tawdry but also very lame. If humour is your business and you don’t make people laugh, are you good in your trade even? Also, if shock is not equivalent to laughs, what is India Got Latent’s claim to fame? But that’s not our prime concern as of now. We wish to analyse why ‘sex with parents’ or a lady’s private parts are still thought of as good content for a joke, let alone as humour to be shared on a public platform with an intent to make the audience have some fun. For most, such puns are not even considered wisecracks but Allahbadia and Samay Raina (the lead host of the show) thought otherwise.

Of course, Allahbadia was quick to respond to this, even apologising profusely for a comment that he said was a momentary lapse of judgment on his part.
