India's semiconductor push: 23 chip design projects approved under DLI Scheme
New Delhi: Moving ahead with the aim to establish a self-sufficient semiconductor ecosystem in India, the central government approved 23 chip-design projects under the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) Scheme.
To boost the country’s semiconductor design capabilities, the 23 projects are being supported to manufacture domestically built chips and System-on-chip (SOC) solutions. The chips will be beneficial for energy meters, microprocessor IPs, networking applications, and surveillance cameras. The projects are led by domestic startups and MSMEs.
To enable the 72 companies engaged in the process for developing chip design projects, the government has given them access to the industry-standard Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools for their chip design projects.
