New Delhi: Continuing the streak of deportations of illegal immigrants to many countries including India, the US now is reportedly planning to deport 96 more Indian citizens who had illegally immigrated to the US. With anti-immigration being one of the benchmarks of Trump’s policy and something he had consistently vowed to take action on, his moves on the issue do not come as a surprise. What does though, is the intensity and swiftness of his action.

The news comes back after 104 Indians were earlier this week deported back to India, from San Antonio to Amritsar, handcuffed and shackled. This inhumane treatment of this large number of Indians drew criticism from many quarters. In response to this, the Indian government confirmed that it has formally lodged its protest. “Yes, we have registered our concerns with the US (on mistreatment),” Times of India quoted foreign secretary Vikram Misri.
