Tesla in India, but considering logistics and alternates, do we really care?
New Delhi: After two prior failed attempts, Tesla might soon make its Indian debut. This comes at the back of a meeting between Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Tesla has reportedly begun producing vehicles that it intends to import to the India market and is also scouting for potential locations to set-up a factory. According to news platform Bloomberg, Tesla plans to begin selling its cars in three major cities, namely Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore, by the third quarter of this year.
While the entry of Tesla into Indian markets has been highly anticipated for a long time now, it is only now that a window of hope seems to have opened up. This can be attributed to many factors which include the meeting between Musk and PM Modi, the re-election of Donald Trump as the US President and new regulations introduced by the Indian government regarding EVs.
