Sam Altman plans India visit, continuing legacy of Silicon Valley-India ties
New Delhi: According to latest media reports, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is planning to visit India in the coming few weeks. Coming at a time when his company is facing legal challenges in India, his trip to New Delhi would be highly anticipated. Currently facing a lawsuit by Indian news agency ANI which claims breaches of copyright by OpenAI, accusing it of using its news articles to train its AI models without any compensation.
Altman’s visit though is likely to focus on many other things as well, with India an emerging technological centre and OpenAI facing challenges from China in the domain of AI, for Altman to look for opportunities in India to invest and diversify would not come as much of a surprise. Especially with Silicon Valley and India sharing long and historic ties.
