New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the much-anticipated Union Budget for the eighth consecutive time. While the budget, by its very nature, is never able to placate everyone, this time around optimism surrounding the budget is relatively greater than earlier. This is true in particular to futuristic endeavours, which nascent now will with time become key for India’s growth. In her budget speech, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted the need for innovation, deep-tech development, and a greater push towards digital transformation. In aid of this, the setting up of a Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence for education with a total outlay of ₹500 crore was announced.
