Egypt TV presenter Sarah Khalifa among 12 sentenced to death in major drug case

Popular Egyptian TV presenter Sarah Khalifa and 11 others have been sentenced to death by hanging by a Cairo court in a major drug case involving more than 750 kg of narcotics and raw materials. The verdict can be appealed.

New Delhi: An Egyptian court has sentenced television presenter Sarah Khalifa, 39, and 11 others to death after finding them guilty in a major drug case involving the manufacture and trafficking of synthetic narcotics.

Khalifa, known for hosting the crime and security-focused television programme Mission Impossible, was accused of being part of an organised criminal group that imported raw materials used to manufacture synthetic drugs and then prepared them for trafficking.
