New Delhi: In his second term as the US President, Donald Trump has not wasted much time in bringing his vision to fruition. The new President-elect signed more executive orders on his first day in office than any other president in US history.

From immigration and military to climate and gender categorisation, Trump has signed a spate of executive orders which are slowly reshaping American policy and will have global impact as they are slowly implemented with time. While some executive actions will have immediate impacts, others would take some time to materialise. Executive orders are publicly tracked in the Federal Register and cannot be easily overturned by Congress, they can though be blocked or challenged.

In about ten days of assuming office, Trump has signed on more than 20 executive orders. On his first day in office itself, Trump issued executive orders which rescinded many of those brought about by the previous administration. From withdrawing the US from the World Health Organization and Paris Agreement to rolling back on federal recognition of gender identity, Trump has come about with many orders that have not found unanimous affirmation from all quarters. Some of his decisions have been related to personal aims, like establishing the Department of Government Efficiency and pardoning over 1,500 January 6 rioters. Others have been about fulfilling his campaign promises, like reaffirmed the existing constitutional right to free speech and implementing more stricter anti-immigration mores.

Trump promised in his inaugural speech that he would be implementing many executive orders which would amount to a “complete restoration of America”. It looks like he is making good on his promise and how.
